Why I Made The Switch To Low-Toxic Lifestyle
And the top 3 areas toxins love to hide. Find easy product swaps if you're starting a low-toxic journey from scratch.

It all started ten years ago when I suffered from chronic asthma and severe allergies during my teenage years, which led to a near-death experience. After many years of allergy shots, respiratory treatments, and constant use of inhalers without any improvements, we said: Enough is enough. And we committed to change.
Disclaimer: The terms' chemical,' 'non-toxic,' eco-friendly, and sustainable are controversial and depend on manufacturing practices. The following information is based on my experience advocating for low-toxic products and living an almost zero-waste lifestyle for over a decade. However, everyone's needs are different, so I recommend doing your research before making any decisions. Please note that this is not professional advice, and you should always consult with your primary care provider before using any new products.
First on the list: Switch to non-toxic products. Back in the day, we had no idea how much this decision would impact our lives. As we delved deeper into the low-toxic lifestyle and began changing and adjusting all the products in our home, I started feeling improvements in my health.
I will say NO, it's not 'more expensive' or 'impossible' like many suggest. Of course, it is a learning curve; it won't be perfect, but it is better.
Today, I'm healthy, thriving, and sharing my journey. I continue to embrace a low-toxic lifestyle, and as a first-time homeowner, I am making this new phase of my life a wholesome experience following the principles that helped me regain my optimal wellness.
Top 3 Places Toxic Chemicals Hide In Your Home
Your Kitchen
Remove all non-stick cookware and bakeware for stainless steel or non-glazed ceramic pots and pans if you can.
My personal low-toxic kitchen favorites:
Your Bathroom
I always talk about my motto: less is more. And this is especially true for your beauty and self-care products.
It's SHOCKING to read the ingredients in makeup and some skincare products linked to major illnesses and terrible side effects. Head to the EWG Skin Deep database, nerd out a little bit every night with a nice cup of tea, and find a few new fave products that are good for you and that you don't have to worry about daily.
My personal care product favorites:
Your Laundry
Once you've swapped your household cleaners, it does much of the leg work upfront. Cleaners are the most common culprits to endocrine, hormonal, and respiratory system issues.
We use DoTerra's cleaner and Blueland Cleaner Set. These three products will help you replace over ten household cleaners you no longer need.
My personal better-for-you laundry favorites:
Alternative to dryer sheets (add drops of essential oils for a natural aroma)
We think of our homes as a safe place. Still, without even realizing it, they are being polluted by toxic chemicals from all our products, significantly impacting our and our family's health.
A Word on Fragrance
If you can, ditch your candles. They are packed with chemicals causing hormonal issues, and welp, you don't need that in your life. Opt for beeswax instead or diffusers with pure, high-quality essential oils. We use this one around our home.
You'll be shocked at how many mystery headaches you won't have anymore, not to mention that it's generally good to knock out any blockers to a healthy adrenal system.
*Safety: I use Doterra Essential oils as they are the purest, most tested, and ethically sourced oils globally. Please only buy oils after researching, as they can do more harm than good.
We are regularly exposed to many toxins, so avoiding them seems impossible. The good news is there are small, effective hacks you make each day to reduce your exposure and, at the least, be aware of the environment around you.
