Low-Toxic Guest Bathroom Must-Haves On A Budget

1. TURKISH TOWELS

If you think about it, youā€™re rubbing towels all over your body daily! You want to ensure no harmful toxins, dyes, or chemicals leaching over time.

We bought a couple of towels from The Loomia, which are low-toxic, free from harmful substances (OEKO-TEX-certified) and:

  • The soft fabric feels luxurious and never irritates sensitive skin

  • They get softer and softer with every wash; they feel like ā€˜spaā€™ towel

  • Look stylish and add an organic touch to the bathroom

TIP: Good questions to ask when replacing your old towels or setting up your home for the first time include:

  1. What are the towels made from? Are the fibers locally sourced and processed?

  2. Are the materials organically and sustainably grown?

  3. Have the towels been treated with toxic chemicals, including dyes?

2. LOW TOXIC HAIR + BODY CARE

I've tried many shampoos and conditioner bars on a hunt for zero-waste personal care products to reduce plastic packaging. And only these work prettyyyyy well without damaging my hair.

Zero-waste, all-natural shampoo and conditioner bars.

Itā€™s my go-to for the colder months. Winter is pretty harsh on my skin, so I try to use soothing, natural soaps to help my skin hydrate and retain moisture. The natural exfoliating properties of sunflower wax beads and orange peel powder work together to gently soften and smooth skin.

Hydrates and helps the skin retain moisture. Ideal for the winter!

3. ECO-FRIENDLY CLEANERS

A great alternative if you have high sensitivity to harsh cleaning formulas like bleach. It took me three years to entirely swap all my cleaning supplies. When starting out get the ā€˜starter sets,ā€™ test them out, and see if you like the products before you commit.

Ditch single-use plastic. Swap for eco-friendly, low-toxic cleaning products.

BONUS: SHOWER CURTAIN

We found this cotton and linen curtain on Amazon for a great price! Whenever possible, seek natural fabrics, hemp, linen, or cotton. We opted for a solution cotton and linen curtain like this one.

Linen & cotton blend shower curtain. 100% cotton rug shopped local.

I grew up with chronic asthma. After many, many years (~18), I was able to crack the code. The toxins in my home were the culprit. After embracing a simpler, organic, and low-toxic lifestyle, Iā€™m not exaggerating; everything changed.

My goal here is simple: To help you reduce environmental toxins in your home so you can feel better & live a much simpler, cozy life with less stuff.
